Mike Gogan has sorted me out a treat and I’m now at the home of Paul & Cristina (and their daughter, Iris) in Romania. What a lovely family. They are living an eco-hybrid lifestyle. A sort of “Good Life” but supplemented by day jobs. I guess “low-impact eco-living” is a near enough expression, although I don’t want to pigeon-hole these new friends of mine.
The final day in Serbia was another one filled with friendly folk. Every face a smile and a nod.
I’ve had a lovely evening with Cristina and Paul. Freshly prepared tasty food and a bunch of neighbours filled their kitchen. Yet again the conversation temporarily towards English premier league football (Paul’s ringtone is that of “Glory Glory Man United”!).
This place (I guess because of the people and their mindsets/kindness/openness) has a great feel to it. I’d love to stay a while but don’t want to overstay my welcome.
I’ve emailed Michelin about the tyres – I think I’ll call them tomorrow to get it all pushed through. I’m going to use Romania as my introduction to rough/wild camping after leaving this house so I want to get the bike nicely sorted. It’s developed a “stuttering” – I suspect the air filter or the fuel filter (or both) needs cleaning.
I also have a Romanian SIM card for my phone, so I think I’ll call mum tomorrow and have a little catch up.
