Mission accomplished. After over 25,000 miles, 20 countries and five sets of tyres, I’ve arrived at my dad’s house in Nashua NH.
What a ride!
The bike is now parked up in the garage, waiting for me to heap some love and attention on her, but otherwise I think I’m going to put my feet up for a few days and catch up on things like current events, personal hygiene and beer.
The weather has started to behave itself once more and I managed to get in a final night of camping on Saturday night, somewhere in New Jersey. The final day of riding saw me meandering up through New York (state), Connecticut and Massachusetts before popping over the border into New Hampshire and letting out a loud “whoop!” as I reached my destination 🙂
The last couple of days involved some some beautiful roads and colonial countryside, with an odd juxtaposition between the white wooden houses, English place names and some very Bavarian-looking architecture. Throw some Amish horses and carts into the mix and it becomes obvious why the highways are to be avoided (because you never get to see anything from the big highways).
I even managed to ride through Coventry and Warwick and within a mile of Kenilworth as I whizzed through Pennsylvania! (For reference, my home town of Leamington Spa is within 10 miles of Warwick, Coventry and Kenilworth).
Right, someone get me a beer, a world map and some drawing pins – it’s time to pick out a route through Africa 🙂
